I have a carbon crank; Can POWERBEAT™ work with it?
At this moment, the POWERBEAT™ only supports hollow aluminum cranks. We are working on a sensor that will provide our customers with the best carbon experience in the market.
I have an ANT+ head unit. Will POWERBEAT™ work with it?
Yes. POWERBEAT™ is compatible with ANT+ head units that support (PWR logo). It’s also Bluetooth™ Smart compatible, which means you can even use your smartphone as a head unit.
What power metrics does POWERBEAT™ provide?
Cadence, power output, *torque efficiency and *pedal smoothness from each leg. You can get additional metrics from your GPS head unit, cycling app and other devices. (*Only on supported ANT+ devices).
Is POWERBEAT™ difficult to install?
It shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes if you carefully follow the instructions and video tutorials. After removing the pedals and gluing the sensors, you need to wait 24 hours for the glue to dry.
How do I know if POWERBEAT™ is compatible with my crank?

No. Please do not open the sensor or the comp unit. If you do, you will void your warranty.

Do you have any Pro Gluing Tips for me?
The gluing procedure can be easily done by almost anyone. Just pay close attention to our dedicated video tutorial 😊 & App.
In addition, we’ve concentrated some Pro Gluing Tips, as done by our Installation Service Center crew below:
- Submerge the glue in a cup of hot water (1 minute is enough) before mixing it and mix for at least 30 times
- Keep the bike in a warm room environment 20-25 °C (68 -77 °F), from start to finish
- Sand the crank on the gluing surface thoroughly:

Is there a minimal period of time after purchasing that I will need to send my device to a service center for calibration?
Absolutely not. Calibrating POWERBEAT™ can be done by anyone and only takes a minute for each side. Our App and calibration video will guide you through each step of the process.
What is the best way to perform a zero-offset calibration?
There are a few important steps to remember while performing a zero-offset calibration:
- Waiting until you are 10 minutes in to your ride
- No weight at all is applied to the crank arms
- The crank is not moving
- Making sure that the Left crank arm is pointing down
- Performing a zero-offset calibration
Which mobile devices are compatible with the POWERBEAT™ APP?
All smartphones running IOS 10 or Android 4.4.2 and above.
How can I update POWERBEAT™ firmware?
Go to firmware update in the Settings section of the app. We will also notify you when we update the firmware.
Does POWERBEAT™ support multiple bike option?
The sensors remain attached to the crank and cannot be moved from bike to bike. In the future, we will offer additional sensors, allowing you to move the Comp Unit between bikes.
How do I connect my POWERBEAT™ to an ANT+ device?
- Select the ANT+ communication method in the POWERBEAT™ app.
- Turn on your head unit and perform a Device Search.
- Alternatively, enter the POWERBEAT™ ANT+ ID (shown in the App menu) into your head unit following your head unit’s pairing instructions.
Can I move my crank from one bike to another with POWERBEAT™?
Yes, POWERBEAT™ can be transferred with you crank to any bike, and there is no need to re-calibrate.
How often do I need to calibrate POWERBEAT™?
You only need to calibrate once when you first install POWERBEAT™. Other than that, please contact us if you are experiencing any difficulties with your POWERBEAT™.
Is POWERBEAT™ recommended for pro level cyclists?
Sure, POWERBEAT™ is designed for all cyclists, from amateur to pro level.
Can I use POWERBEAT™ on my mountain bike?
At this stage, POWERBEAT™ is designed for road bikes only.
How long is the POWERBEAT™ warranty?
The warranty period varies between parts of the globe. Please check with your local distributor before purchasing.
Can I use POWERBEAT™ in wet conditions?
The device is weather resistant – both waterproof and dustproof to IP67 standard (when the sensor plug is fully inserted).
The POWERBEAT™ App pops a message that something went wrong during calibration. What should I do?
Make sure that the sensor plugs are fully and firmly inserted into the Comp Units.
My power reading seems inaccurate, what could be wrong? (*)
Perform a ride with the POWERBEAT™ LIVE to check the right and left power output. If the power output on either leg seems irregular (Too high or too low), we recommend contacting Watteam support.
My balance is way off. What should I do?
Perform a Zero offset calibration and check if this solved the problem. If performing a Zero offset calibration did not solve the problem, preform a ride with the POWERBEAT™ LIVE to check the right and left power output, if the problem continues Try preforming a new calibration, with emphasis on the water bags weight (9.9 Pound or 4.5 Kg) and steady crank arms. Contact Watteam support for farther help.
How can I pair my POWERBEAT™ with a Bluetooth device?
Check your head unit’s user guide, to find out which mode is supported. If your head unit allows the pairing of two power meters (left and right), use Dual Channel mode, otherwise use Single Channel mode.
Single power sensor channel:
In Single Channel mode, the right Comp unit receives data from the left side, calculates the total power and transmits it to the head unit. 1. Select Bluetooth Smart in the POWERBEAT™ app. 2. Unplug your left Comp Unit. 3. Turn on your head unit and perform a Device Search in your head unit (following your head unit’s pairing instructions for further instructions). 4. Once it is paired, plug the left Comp Unit back in.
Dual power sensor channel:
In Dual Channel mode right and left leg power data are transmitted independently to the head unit, which then calculates the total power. 1. Select Bluetooth Smart Dual in the POWERBEAT™ app. 2. Turn on your head unit and perform a Device Search in your head unit (following your head unit’s pairing instructions for further instructions).
What is survival mode?
POWERBEAT™ survival mode kicks in if your Left Comp Unit stops working or is low on battery. You will receive a display of 0%-100% balance to indicate that there is no metrics from the left side. The total power will be calculated by doubling the Right leg power. In the case of using a single sided Bluetooth device, there will be no balance displayed.
Can I practice isolated leg?
Yes, you can. While practicing isolated leg, you will receive a 100%-0% or 0%-100% balance display, depending on what leg you are practicing with. You will receive all of the available metrics for the leg that you are practicing with.
What balance will be displayed while I’m going downhill?
While going downhill (not pedaling), you will receive a 50%-50% balance display, as to prevent ride data inaccuracies.
